Rep. George Whitesides

George Whitesides needed an original congressional identity that connected his aerospace background to the California district he represents while avoiding generic political iconography.

For a representative, place comes before personal history. Rather than putting aerospace before or beside the district, the identity should make one emerge from the other.

I turned the silhouette of Vasquez Rocks into a launch trajectory. A star at its peak solidifies that aerospace inspiration, creating a single mark rooted in the district while carrying a sense of upward motion. A color way inspired by California poppy fields under a starry night sky extends that idea into a system grounded in place rather than conventional red, white, and blue.
